Main purpose of job:

Sign off stock paperwork for stock issuance & purchase of items.

Efficient use of human resources (staff) around 69 people both Afghans and Pakistanis.

Forward planning/ Notifications.

Sign off and prioritization of the work requests.

Processing work request forms to ensure a timely and efficient conclusion to all work.

Liaising with estates section.

Oversight of outside contractors works.

Ensuring administrative and financial guidance is being implemented in the Technical Works Group, including co-ordinating leave, sick leave & overtime returns.

Prepare work plans and work schedules for preventative maintenance.

Line manage the trades comprising electricians, plumbers, masons, carpenters, ac mechanics, generator mechanic, welder, painters, TWG drivers and labourers  upwards of 69 staff and casuals.

Liaise with the stores person to ensure that the trades have the right equipment and materials to do their job.

Responsibility for implementing the work of a large and busy Technical Works Group, ensuring that both small & large scale property maintenance works are completed safely and effectively, in accordance with prescribed guidelines and to the required standard.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

Job Description

1.     Oversee Maintenance Program

  • Efficient use of human resources (Staff).
  • Correct Documentation ( Records / Certificates).
  • Forward planning / Notifications.
  • Liaising with customers.

2.    Looking after projects and making sure to

  • Pursue work with energy, drive, and a need for completion. 
  • Adapt to varying work situations and to be flexible in our approach to resolve the challenges .
  • Deliver services accurately.
  • Deliver services on time.  
  • Use position power to support team and individual efforts.
  • Gain Support of others to accomplish work.

3.    Supervisory tasks and working with TWS

  • Assisting TWS with supervisory of TWG work force.
  • Sign off and prioritisation of the work request.
  • Processing work request forms to ensure a timely and efficient. conclusion to all work.
  • Liaise with estates section.
  • Oversight of outside contractors works. 
  • Point of contact for all out of hours emergencies when required by the TWS.
  • Suggests ways to improve processes to fulfil customer needs.
  • Working with team members toward a common goal.
  • Reviews progress toward accomplishing team goals.
  • Supervise the technical support department and direct their daily activities.
  • Track open work request issues, communicate status to customers.
  • Observes and evaluates workers’ performance.
  • Coordinating the plan of TWSs with foremen who are managing multiple workers.

4.    Any other tasks assigned by the TWS

Resources managed

69 staff both Afghans and Pakistani nationals.

 

  • Degree level qualification in any discipline.
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in the same or similar role.
  • Able to work independently, to apply initiative, to problem solve and work under pressure to meet multiple and changing priorities, deadlines and objectives.
  • A confident communicator able to deal with all staff and teams within the Embassy.
  • An excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • To be proactive and work on his own initiatives whenever required.
  • Computer literacy in all Microsoft packages.
  • Excellent communication and oral and written English skills.
  • Experience of working in an International or a business related environment in Afghanistan.

SALARY PACKAGE:

The Local Staff Terms & Conditions for staff working the in the British embassy will apply.

For external candidates, salary will be $1,824.50 (Gross) per month with $100 transport and $125 medical allowances.  We also offer a competitive package including performance-related bonus scheme, good annual leave entitlements, a multicultural environment, learning and development opportunities.

The conditioned net working hours are Sunday-Thursday 0830-1630 hrs.  Flexible working hours can be agreed.
