The British Embassy in Copenhagen is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas is looking for an Intern to join the Embassy’s Political Team, a high performing team which enjoys a strong reputation for the quality of its reporting, analysis and influencing for customers across Whitehall. Policy priorities include domestic politics, foreign policy, CT, NATO, Arctic, energy,  economic recovery, development and human rights, and a range of prosperity, and values-based campaigns.  The team also covers Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

You will assist the team in political reporting on a range of topical issues, the organisation of events, visits and administrative tasks.

During the internship, you will gain insight into, and become actively involved in a variety of interesting areas related to internal and foreign policy.  Duties will include: 

  • Researching and reporting;
  • Attending events on the embassy’s behalf and building a network of contacts;
  • Organising events and visits in line with Embassy priorities;
  • Helping to arrange visits of senior officials and Ministers;
  • Taking meeting minutes and leading on meeting briefings;
  • Helping on administrative tasks within the political section.
  • We are looking to recruit a determined, self-sufficient, enterprising and results-oriented individual who is driven by an interest in Danish and UK politics, foreign policy, international relations and public policy;
  • Fluency in English and Danish both oral and written (C1/C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*).
  • We imagine that you may have already gained some international politics experience, perhaps in your studies or other internships, that you have strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver on set objectives.

This is a full-time, internship for a period of 6 months.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Copenhagen are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Danish employment law.

Visa/work permit requirements: candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Denmark and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
