View Vacancy - Press and Communications Intern - Mexico City
Main purpose of job:
Support the Press and Communications team in the delivery of Communications and Public Diplomacy campaigns, communications products and information management.
The position will report directly to the Head of Press and Communications and will be based in the British Embassy in Mexico City offices.
Roles and responsibilities:
Marketing Activities
- Manage the inventory of GREAT branding materials.
- Collate the PCT and DIT activities calendar, raising key events that will require support and be the liaison with the Mexico team for marketing campaigns.
- Producing basic audiovisual material for teams (videos, photos and infographics in Photoshop and/or online resources like Canva).
Social media
- Support with channel monitoring and reporting.
Communications Activities
- Regular update of media database.
- Support in Daily News Report when needed.
- Manage and update activity calendar.
- Photo coverage of events when needed.
- Supporting in events (press conferences, receptions, other) with:
a. logistics
b. branding set up
c. welcome press
d. media confirmations
The role will involve working with numerous different teams across the Section and the Embassy. The successful candidate will need to work flexibly across areas.

Essential on arrival:
- Proven English proficiency.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to summarize information.
- Capacity for flexibility and willingness to work to meet deadlines.
- Organisation skills.
- Writing texts and copy skills.
- Proofreading.
- Social media savvy (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram).
- Data analysis (for social media and digital marketing tool).
- Office basic skills.
Language requirements:
Language: English & Spanish
Level of language required: Excellent language skills both written and spoken
Desirable:
- Video and graphics edition skills.
- InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop or similar.
- Experience working in an international office environment.
Candidates must be able to live and work in Mexico in their own right. The successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance and professional reference checks.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Working patterns:
25 hours per week
