Main Purpose of Job:

To be performed with Embassy Security Team that protect embassy properties from various threats (Fire, Thief and other Security Incidents).

What will the Jobholder be Expected to Achieve:

  • Relieving Guard is responsible for safety and security of the embassy, reporting to Security Supervisor and Post Security Manager.
  • Perform routine guard duties
  • Conduct security checks of visitors and vehicles entering the Embassy compound
  • Regularly patrol Embassy grounds, preventing the entry of unauthorised people
  • Protect Embassy property from fire or theft
  • Other security-related duties as directed by Security Supervisor or Security Manager

Resources Managed (staff and expenditure): N/A

  • Minimum High School education level is required
  • At least 3 years' work-related experience in a similar organisation and/or security role
  • Fluent in spoken and written Burmese
  • Good command of spoken English
  • Able to do shift work (07:00 - 19:00/19:00-07:00)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a team
  • Active and able to work flexible working hours

Language Requirements:

  • Language: Myanmar and English
  • Level of language required: Myanmar (Fluent in spoken and written), English (Good command in spoken)

This is a temporary term, casual guard.

The British Embassy Yangon offers a competitive remuneration package, including salary, benefits, leave entitlement of 22 days per annum (calculated in pro rata). 

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment and security checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy Yangon is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. All candidates must be legally able to work and reside in the country of the vacancy with the correct visa/work permit status or demonstrate eligibility to obtain the relevant permit. Any costs related to obtaining or renewing permits and visas are the responsibility of the successful applicant.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.

  • Guard training, security awareness training and other relevant training from certificated company.
