View Vacancy - Estates Manager
The Corporate Services Team in British Embassy Cairo is looking to appoint an Estates Manager grade B3 (L) to start as soon as possible.
Main purpose of the job
To bring together relevant experts in construction, plant maintenance to ensure a programme of works to keep British Embassy offices and residences maintained to high health and safety standards. Manage large teams, have excellent experience of UK health and safety standards and of working with contracts, setting specifications and monitoring performance of contractors against technical and budget requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Liaising with local and regional UK compliance colleagues to ensure that processes, record keeping and contracts are implemented to ensure that maintenance is scheduled and carried out to FCO standards.
- Day-to-Day management of a large technical workforce, tasked appropriately to meet maintenance requirements, setting priorities dependant on the nature of work coming in. Line Managing including appraising and developing performance of a large team (over 10) including in house and contracted staff.
- Day to day management of contractors, including accessing (UK or local) expertise to develop contractors to meet UK standards.
- Agreeing and implementing Learning and Development programmes for the Estate and Technical Works team paying particular attention to FCO Health and Safety requirements.
- Production of agreed forward maintenance plan in liaise with a variety of colleagues at post and globally.
- Consulting Senior Management, One HMG Partners on Estate strategy in order to ensure the Estate meets operational needs.
- Contract management (including setting specifications and monitoring implementation of contracts.
- FCO financial management and governance, supervising the cash imprest holder and working with colleagues to budget for maintenance requirements, following FCO and HMG procedures to procure assets and pay contractors and for services. (£200,000)
- Communicating with a range of colleagues from all levels of the Embassy to understand their requirements from the estate (e.g. implementing maintenance requests,
- Continuously improve the Estate and the teams and contractors providing maintenance and implementing projects (e.g. small builds through to million pound refurbishments) on the Estate through good Line Management, analysis of and acting on feedback from customers.

- Literacy in using Microsoft Office such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience in financial management
Remuneration:
The position is B3 (L) and the Gross Salary is USD 1,343.81 per month subject to insurance and tax as per the usual regulations based on a 36 hours per week.
