Main purpose of job:


As a senior member of the Regional Strategic Accounts Team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining a senior level network of contacts with major Multilateral Development Banks operating in Latin America and the Caribbean.   You will lead this work directly with the World Bank and InterAmerican Development Bank (in Washington, D.C. and in the region) and supervise the work of colleagues in Caracas (CAF HQ) and Barbados (Caribbean Development Bank HQ). Through these networks you will help position UK companies to win more development-funded contracts across the region.


Roles and responsibilities:



The Regional Strategic Accounts Team works to supporth igh-value UK companies to win business across the Latin America and Caribbean (LATAC) regions.

 

Working closely with the DIT team in Washington, you will be responsible for building, developing and managing DIT LATAC’s relationship with key decision makers in the World Bank (Latin America team) and the InterAmerican Development Bank. Your will leverage this network of contacts to position DIT colleagues and through them UK companies to access major new projects in the region. The UK is a major contributer to both of these important international development agencies; your role will be to increase UK company involvement in projects they fund, with success measured as a percentage of contracts won by UK companies.

 

You will also oversee the work of colleagues in Caracas and Barbados who are working closely with CAF and the CDB respectively. You will share with them best practice on strategic account management and set the strategic direction to help them promote these opportunies in the UK and across our teams in the region. You will also work closely with the Prosperity Fund teams to identify commercial opportunities for UK firms linked to their programme spend.

 

This position will require you to develop extensive networks of contacts that will allow you to identify new commercial opportunities as soon as they arise. Excelent account Management and Strategic Thinking skills will be essencial for this position. You will also need strong communication and organisational skills as well as a high level of emotional intelligence that will allow you to pitch your approaches appropriately.

 

The role will require regular travel to Washington and across the region as you build your network and support our teams in accessing projects.


The position will suit an energetic, motivated professional with an interest or background in strategic account management, the work of multilateral development organisations or knowledge of major infrastructure and public procurement processes (including PPP). Training and development opportunites will be available for the successful candidate.


Essential on arrival: University Degree in International Relations, Business Administration, Economics, Development studies or related areas. Mininum of 5 years of working experience. Knowledge in business development, client relationship/account management and working with multilateral development agencies.


Desirable: Understanding of UK government overseas development aid strategy and priorities.
