The British Consulate General in Istanbul is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is seeking to recruit a full-time Corporate Services Officer to join their Corporate Services Section in Istanbul. The Corporate Services Officer will be responsible and accountable for delivering a high quality customer service and providing appropriate, and swift administrative and business support to all customers and stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Post accounting duties, including operation of a cash box, offline spreadsheets and invoice forwarding services;
  • Management of Post Purchase to Pay procedures on an Oracle based programme; Provision of a highly proactive administrative service to the organisation;
  • Interpretation at internal/external meetings into English or Turkish;
  • Translation of official documents, notices and letters from Turkish to English or vice versa;
  • Stock control and distribution of Mission’s supplies;
  • Professional liaison with all stakeholders related to own area, such as banks, GSM operators, mobile handset providers, insurance companies, hospitals, schools etc.;
  • Liaison with language schools and coordination of course provision for staff;
  • Absence cover for the A1 receptionist as necessary;
  • Carrying out other ad-hoc Corporate Services duties when needed.
  • Fluent English and Turkish language skills, with translation experience;
  • Basic accounting, experience dealing with money transactions;
  • Previous administrative support experience;
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel (intermediate skills); 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good customer focus and understanding;
  • Willingness to be flexible and support colleagues;
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritise a busy workload and meet deadlines - without compromising the quality of work and/or customer service;
  • Previous experience of accounting software, ideally Oracle based (desirable, not mandatory).

This is a full-time permanent contract for 5 working days (36.25 hours net) per week.

The annual salary for this position is 17,371.29 USD gross, A2 level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

The successfull candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months.
