The Visits and Bilateral Affairs Officer oversees coordination and delivery of all aspects of visits ranging from logistics to visit programmes for UK Minister and official visits.  The jobholder also leads on all aspects of the Israel Chevening Programme, including managing the selection process and the alumni network. This position is open for 6 months maternity cover.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead on all inward visits to Israel by UK Ministers/officials. 
  • Proactively develop efficient and effective visit programmes, liaise with relevant senior UK/Israeli officials, co-ordinate logistics and accompany on visits where appropriate.
  • Manage the Embassy’s Chevening Scholarship programme, overseeing the interview and selection process, working with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, London Chevening Secretariat and the Chevening-UCL Israel Alumni-Chaim Herzog Scholarship donors in Israel.
  • Further develop the Israel Chevening alumni network.

  • Ability to work well with others as part of a team (it will be important to build good relationships with the rest of the Embassy, British Consulate General Jerusalem staff, contacts in London and Israeli Ministries);
  • Excellent communication skills: fluency in English;
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Hebrew language skills an advantage

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including the non negotiable salary of ILS 10,008 per month, plus social benefits. Parking facilities will not be provided or paid for by the Embassy.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:00 – 16:00 and Friday 8:00-13:30, flexibility will be required including occasional evening events.

The appointment will be subject to security clearance and a probationary period of four months.

The position is available immediately.

Eligibility

The successful applicant will be required to obtain the necessary security clearance. 

Candidates must be able to establish a work visa in Israel. The Embassy will support the successful candidate in applying for a work visa.
