MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Consular work in Pakistan provides a great opportunity to deliver UK Government’s core priorities. A full-time high profile position offering the successful candidate the opportuntity to develop case-handling, service delivery skills. The successful candidate will assist Vice Consul on areas of complex consular casework including cases of detained British nationals and torture & mistreatment during custody. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Day to day contact with the British nationals who are arrested and imprisoned including telephonic and written correspondence with their legal representatives, immediate family members and Consular colleagues back in London.

Organising calendar of prison visits, including all administrative requirements. Maintaining accurate and up to date records and case notes for all ongoing detainee cases.

Ensuring all reports by British Nationals of Mistreatment are accurately recorded, reported and that the action identified is completed.

Maintain a effective network of external stakeholders, relevant to the casework, to gain timely information and assitance for British nationals.  

During peak periods and absences, providing cover for the Consular officer-Forced Marriage, the Crises Support Officer and the Consular Assistant.

Train for and be a member of the High Commission´s consular crisis response team.

WHAT WE DO:

Consular team in Islamabad takes the lead in delivery of one of FCO’s three priorities, supporting British nationals around the world through modern and efficient consular services. We deal with and provide assistance in some of the most complexed cases of vulnerable British nationals.

Bachelors degree

Good coommunication skills (Fluent in spoken and written Englich and Urdu)
