The British Embassy in Serbia is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Regional Administrative Project Support Officer to provide administrative support to regional officers with Counter Terrorism (CT) and Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) portfolios; managing CT/CVE projects including ensuring value for money and monitoring and evaluation and play a leading role as secretariat for a wider internal network.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Administration:

  • Provide admin support to CT/CVE projects;
  • Lead on project administration, forecasting spends and ensuring that funding is spent on time;
  • Act as gatekeeper for monitoring and evaluation of projects, ensuring that we achieve value for money;
  • Liaison point with regional Programme Team.

 

Western Balkans CT/CVE Network Secretariat:

  • Assume role as secretariat for the Western Balkans CT/CVE Network;
  • Organise logistics for regional network meetings (2-3 times per year);
  • Ensure that the regional network remains up-to-date with key CT/CVE policy changes, as directed by CTEN/JICTU.

 

Key Contacts:

  • Maintain a database of key regional CT/CVE contacts, monitoring CT/CVE government appointments and ensure that key colleagues are kept informed of any changes.

 

Other Embassy contribution:

  • Support wider Embassy and HMG objectives throughout the Western Balkans.

  • Fluency in English and Serbian (both oral and written);
  • Project Management experience;
  • Strong IT skills - sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent organisational and office management skills;
  • Confident and professional in communicating with people at all levels;
  • Administrative work experience.



  • Knowledge and experience in Counter Terrorism and/or Countering Violent Extremism;
  • Experience of coordinating networks/groups of colleagues;
  • Experience of being a ‘self-starter’, to work off own initiative.

This is a fixed term 9 months part-time position of 5 working days, 20 gross hours per week. Contract end date would be the 31 March 2020.

The salary is gross and subject to payment of all mandatory social security contributions (19.9%) and tax (10%), in line with local regulations.  

In addition to monthly salary, staff receives a meal allowance of €70 per month and transport allowance of 3,914 dinars per month (review each February) as per Terms & Conditions.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorization for Serbia in order to apply.

The successful candidate will be hired as a temporary member of staff under the terms and conditions which apply to all locally-engaged staff in employment relationship; tax and social contributions will be paid accordingly.

All contributions are deductable at the source. If for any reason the Employee is required to work for periods longer than the conditioned hours overtime may be paid.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Serbia are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Serbian employment law.
