The jobholder will be in charge of the Vietnam Network’s IT systems, telephone, and other communications systems. The successful candidate will have an important role helping design and implement IT policies, ensuring compliance by users with relevant rules and best practice, ensuring business resilience and continuity, regular maintenance and repairs, and developing IT skills of staff and how they can best use the technology to improve business outcomes.

 

  • Design and implement all IT, telephony and VTC policies for the Vietnam Network leading on communication and operational implementation with IT and FCO Services colleagues in the region and London
  • Lead Vietnam contact for users of the UK Government’s main computer system in Vietnam, work with users and the central helpdesk to prioritise and respond to requests for help and resolve any issues with the full range official computer, telephone or VTC systems
  • Provide policy advice and lead on implementing them to ensure resilience and business continuity, including the coordination, coaching and tasking of three Deputy IT Support Officers
  • Ensure compliance of users with relevant operational and security rules and procedures
  • Work as part of the Security Team within the Embassy to ensure IT assets are secure
  • Lead Tech Overhaul change management programme – devising and implementing the change in IT and processes we will use to develop more flexible working
  • Train and mentor staff on how to best utilise computer, telephony and VTC systems
  • Maintain inventories and ensure Security Operating Procedures are understood and enacted
  • Make effective use of IT budgets including prioritisation and procurement
  • Other associated activities as required
  • Due to the nature of the work of this role, and in order to meet security requirements, you must be a national of the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, United States, or EU. You should also be willing to undertake an extensive security check into your background.
  • Strong IT skills (hardware, software and services) and experience in IT support, with particular emphasis on computers, telephony and VTC technology
  • Excellent problem solving and customer service skills
  • Flexibility, personal resilience and capable of solving problems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to travel for short period to Ho Chi Minh City
