Background:


  • The British Embassy is looking for an intern to work in the Trade Policy team during the spring of 2019.

  • The Trade Policy team works with Congress, the Administration, and businesses to advance free trade and open market policies in the US. We seek to further enhance the already strong UK-US trading relationship.

     


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conduct research and assist with reporting to London on trade and business issues.

  • Attend and report on Congressional hearings and Washington events.

  • Conduct research on the positions of Congressional figures on trade and agriculture issues.

  • Maintain the contacts database.

  • Compile weekly media searches on trade and business issues.

  • Support trade team with day-to-day office responsibilities.

  • Organise meetings and logistics for UK visitors.



Minimum Qualifications/Experience:


  • Must be a junior or a senior in an undergraduate program, or enrolled in a graduate program by the start date of your internship (at least 60 credit hours of undergraduate coursework completed). Since this is an unpaid internship, students receiving college credit in exchange for their internships is required.


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as time management, presentation, and organizational skills.


  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management.

  • Must have a strong interest in advancing free trade and open markets in the United States.

     

This program offers internships for 15-25 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer. These are unpaid internships, for college credit only, but the Embassy does provide a stipend of $100 per month for transportation costs. This internship will start on 4 March 2019 and end on 31 May 2019.
