Security

Main purpose of job:

To provide security related support to the Post Security Officer (PSO) and Regional Security Managers (ROSM) to provide safe and secure working and living environments for all staff and family members at the British Deputy High Commission New Delhi.

Roles and responsibilities 

BHC Guard Force. To be responsible for the management of the guard force supervisory team and provide direction and oversight of regular training to ensure that it is delivered frequently and to a high and consistent standard. Conduct regular checks of the guard rooms and ensure proper function of the physical security measures in place. Maintain training records.

Monitoring and Briefing.  Monitoring and maintain a regional database of open source reporting of security related issues. Compile area briefing notes of security incidents as required. Conduct security briefings for all new LE staff and spouse / partners as required.

Security Operations.  Daily management of security equipment and inventories. Supervise weekly alarm checks and review and recommend updates to ‘Actions on’ procedures to the ROSM. Conduct regular security drills, as per guidelines. Issuing of official staff passes. Review, confirm and authorise guard force overtime claims / payments. Supervise the Guard Force Commander

Liaison with local Security and Law Enforcement Agencies.  Establish and maintain contacts within Delhi Police and the Diplomatic Security Force and counterparts in friendly Diplomatic Missions.

Vetting & Recruitment.  Assist in the security verification process of LE staff. Liaise, as necessary, with HR the recruitment and management processes of the Ghurkha guards.

Management of Security Documentation.  Regularly review security documentation (including PSR Part 1) and emergency procedures and make recommendations to ROSM as necessary. Promulgate as directed.

Miscellaneous.  Contribute to Post Crisis Management planning. Conduct security related tasks, including occasional out of hours duties and regional travel as required as detailed by the Post Security Officer and/or the ROSMs.

Working to the Regional Overseas Security Managers’ (ROSM), the Post Security Manager (PSM) is responsible for the day to day security of the British High Commission in New Delhi. The successful applicant will act as the main liaison point of the High Commission's security management team

The PSM role requires an individual who can demonstrate strengths in stakeholder engagement, both internally and externally. The role calls for a confident, articulate person who can project presence, but also someone who can display empathy and calmness under pressure. Credibility, honesty, and integrity play a central part to the PSM role.

Resources managed :

Reporting Officer for  1 x A2 Guard Force Commander and Countersigning Officer and management oversight of 76 Guards.

Military or police service (or related employment) with proven track record of management and leadership experience.

  • Previous experience in use of CCTV, alarm systems and Automated Access Control Systems.
  • Full driving license.

For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Local Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.

For other than BHC Candidates, starting Salary Rs 49,635 per month along with an additional 80% Security Allowance and an additional allowance of 18% ( in lieu of Provident Fund and Superannuation Fund).
