View Vacancy - Multilateral Environmental Negotiations Intern
Main purpose of job
Provide support to the team leading on Multilateral Environmental Negotiations in administrative and substantive tasks aiming at fostering UK-Colombia collaboration in the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC-COP26) and the international process to define a new global biodiversity framework (CBD post-2020 framework).
Roles and responsibilities
1. Climate change – Support engagement with non-state actors: Support the team in the promotion of the United Nations Race to Zero and Race to Resilience campaigns:
· With the guidance of the team’s advisors, schedule and facilitate engagement with non-state actors, including private sector, investors, universities and civil society. Perform as note taker in different settings.
· Monitor relevant developments and present reports and ideas to the team on how to boost non-state actors action on climate and sustainability.
· With the guidance of the team’s leader, support in the implementation of a plan to promote the Race to Resilience Campaign in Colombia.
2. Biodiversity and oceans:
· Support the formulation and delivery of comms activities.
· With the team’s advisors guidance/instruction, schedule and organize meetings with relevant stateholders in Colombia and perform as note taker.
3. Monitor and report to the team relevant developments in country on climate, biodiversity and sustainability, including new policies adopted or planned by the government or local authorities, relevant initiatives from the private sector and civil society,as well as other information that could be of interest for the team’s objectives.
4. Support Events and Activities: Support to the organisation, planning and delivery of events and visits, including the preparation of agendas, meetings and all related logistic activities.
5. Work closely with other teams of the Embassy to ensure coordination and optimize impact.
6. Actively engage in the wider Embassy activities, participate in committees and events.
7. Any other task that might be required as part of the team’s activities
- Must be enrolled in full-time education, such as International Relations, Communications, Marketing, Business Management, Political Science or a similar degree.
- Experience in working on communications strategies and social media.
- Ability to manage databases.
- Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel etc)
- Well organised, good team player with excellent customer service skills.
Language requirements
Language: Fluent (proficient) written and spoken English and Spanish.
Level of language required: between B1 and C1 (under the CEFRL or equivalent).
Must have the legal status to live and work in Colombia.
The successful candidate must be in the last year of undergraduate studies in a related field, as well as a demonstrated passion for development and climate change issues. It is mandatory that the candidates are students with availability of at least 6 months before their graduation to complete the internship. The internship must be a requirement for obtaining the degree.
