The British Embassy in Rabat invites applications for the position of a Part Time Information Technology Support Officer (ITSO), Grade A2 (L). The position is at 80% - 30.5 hours a week.

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Technical Support Officer (STSO) and will be part of the Morocco network Corporate Services team. We are looking for a dynamic self-starter who is resourceful and works well under pressure.

Objective:

The successful applicant will be in charge of maintaining and supporting equipment and infrastructure of the official  IT system (Firecrest) and manage FCO business applications, with the helpdesk support who is the first point of contact of all IT issues. This is a busy and interesting role in the Embassy, which we are looking to fill with an individual who is a team-player willing to adapt to the requirements of the position, which may vary during your time at the Embassy. You will be required to manage the transition of the Embassy to a new IT system with the help of a UK team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leading on maintaining equipment and infrastructure of the Embassy’s main IT system, laptops, mobiles and FCO business applications;
  • Administrating and maintaining the Embassy’s standalone machines and local area networks;
  • Liaising and communicating with various outside suppliers to ensure smooth service and resolve any issues;
  • Ensuring the Embassy’s IT configuration for crisis management and business continuity; 
  • Providing a focal point for IT users in Rabat and IT Support Officer in Casablanca on all IT related queries which cannot be resolved by the Helpdesk remotely.
  • Ensuring the integrity of the system by reporting and investigating any potential breaches of security;
  • Assisting  Senior Technical Support Officers and telephony section (ECHO) for all technical and telephony requests;
  • Managing accurate inventory of Posts IT equipment, Satellite phones, Smartphones, Tapes etc.
  • Training staff on use of FCO applications.

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills and organisational skills mainly the ability to explain complex IT issues in simple terms, to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
  • A confident self starter who projects a professional image and builds networks to help get the job done.
  • High standard of Microsoft excel and working knowledge of other Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to work independently and to take the initiative as well as being able to work well with others.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: gross salary of MAD 10,500 per month, inclusive of all allowances. This role is offered on a fixed term basis for 2 years.

This is a part time role and the conditioned working hours for the position are 30.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.

The contract will be for a period of two years with a six months probation period.

Eligibility:

The successful applicant will be required to obtain security clearance. Higher clearances can be granted only to certain nationalities.  For this reason, candidates must be of British, American, Australian, Canadian or New Zealand nationality in order to gain the level of clearance required.
