The British Embassy, Riyadh has a vacancy for a Deputy Head of Corporate Services, Grade B3 (L).

Role:

To manage the Embassy’s resources in the most efficient way possible in support of the Country Business Pan. Establish corporate services policies that extend to Partners Across Government (‘PAGs’), achieve consistency in applying these and instil best practice across the Saudi Arabia Network of three Posts. Deputise in the absence of the Head of Corporate Services (HCS) and maintain high standards of delivery across the Corporate Services Team.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To lead on the operational management of Post’s day to day finances and supervision to improve financial performance indicators. Actively engage with the regional Hubs specialising in finance and procurement to inform colleagues of post’s compliance with the ‘Purchase to Pay’ model. Manage high value contracts effectively.
  • To provide support and guidance to resident Partners across Government, increase awareness of policies and procedures that underpin ‘One HMG Overseas.’
  • To review and refresh a wide range of key resource documents including; Corporate Services Charter, Staff Welcome Pack and Geographical Expenditure Guide. Cascade update documents to the Network.
  • To act as Secretariat for the Health and Safety Committee. Co-ordinate the Embassy wide activity and initiate periodic reviews to evaluate compliance with Health and Safety policies.
  • To contribute to activity within the wider mission including support on crisis management; high profile visits and other cross cutting corporate tasks.
  • To identify and maximise efficiencies in work flows and responsibilities to meet the demands of a busy network.
  • To maintain a working knowledge of the HCS’s areas of responsibility and cover the position during periods of absence. This will involve budget management and presenting financial reports to senior management as required.
  • To line manage Government Relations Team (3 officers), providing guidance and direction to meet wider network needs.
  • To oversee the administration of the Security Clearance Procedures for new staff.

Essential: 

  • Excellent written and spoken English, with sound written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience of delivering through a team, responding to demands of a wider range of stakeholders and servicing them accordingly
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop translation skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and understand diversity 
  • Excellent IT skills – word and excel
  • Ability to manage resources including own time and tasking
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deliver to deadline
  • Understanding of customers and delivering excellent service.

Desirable:        

  • Experience of budgeting and financial resource management.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The starting salary will be SAR. 9,953.12 per month inclusive of the Eid Bonus and the 25% housing allowance. An additional travel allowance of SAR 400 per month will also be payable.

Free access to on site swimming pool, gymnasium and tennis court.

Normal working hours for the Embassy are 08.00 to 15.00 Sunday to Thursday. This position is full-time, based on 35 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90 day probationary period.

Eligibility:

The position is only available to holders of Saudi residence permits or transferable Iqamas, and successful candidates will be required to transfer their sponsorship to the British Embassy. This position is only available to those persons to whom security clearance can be granted (UK, US, Australian, Canadian or New Zealand nationals).
