View Vacancy - Furniture/Maintenance Store Assistant - PTA17 (On Hold)
Main purpose of job:
The Store Assistant will be required to assist the Furniture Officer in keeping up to date records of all items/stock stored at the British High Commission, ensuring that stock levels are maintained throughout the year. They will also be required to keep an updated inventory on all domestic floats items, ensuring the floats are issued to officers in a clean/neat order and that all items issued are returned to the store within an agreed time frame.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
- Receiving all incoming supplies; inspecting quality and quantity of items, ensuring they are of British standards; reporting, documenting and tracking damages and discrepancies on orders received and domestic floats returned
- Organising and controlling the flow of domestic floats; updating store inventories and stock items according to prescribed inventory system/procedures - ensuring variances are checked before updating
- Unpacking and sorting incoming goods or supplies/items and restocking shelves; wrapping and packing outgoing domestic float items
- Ensuring all loan items are duly signed for and returned at the agreed or appropriate time (e.g. when officers’ heavy baggage arrive at post, an officer leaves post or one-off temporary loans)
- Identifying and tracking surplus or old/obsolete items; preparing lists for such items to be weeded or earmarked for disposal/sale
- Quarterly reconciliation, documentation and reporting in accordance with established procedures/systems
- Maintaining the stores in Pretoria in a clean, neat/orderly manner
Basic administration experience
Computer literate
The British High Commission pays 100% for the Key Care Plus option on Discovery Health for staff including spouses/partners and dependants.
Once you have successfully completed your probation the British High Commission will contribute 9% of your monthly salary to a Provident Fund.

Working hours per week of 36.5
This position will be based in Pretoria.
