Main purpose of job
Provide enthusiastic support to the Prosperity Counsellor specifically and to the Prosperity Team, with a focus on Prosperity Fund programmes.
The Prosperity team is a diverse, cross-governmental and cross sector team working in Brazil and regionally on prosperity programmes, energy and climate, trade, financial service, economic reform, education, health and others. We collaborate across the different policy, programme and commercial agendas, in order to build partnerships between the UK and Brazil to increase sustainable economic growth, involving government, business and other stakeholders.
Roles and responsibilities
- Support the Prosperity Counsellor in using his time most effectively: scheduling meetings, answering requests and discussing recommendations;
- Collecting information and suggestions from colleagues to advise on which stakeholders the Counsellor should meet, in line with the Prosperity team’s priorities;
- Making the necessary logistical arrangements for meetings to take place. Interacting with stakeholders to ensure good communication and preparation;
- Making travel arrangements, including booking flights, making hotel reservations and arranging transport when necessary;
- To attend meetings , functions and networking events in support of the Prosperity team as necessary;
- Provide technical and logistical support to Prosperity team needs, such as organising meetings, events, briefings, notes;
- Act as Learning and Development (L&D) champion for the Prosperity team, assisting the Counsellor on the management of the budget and taking part on the L&D Committee;
- Organise introduction agendas for new arrival colleagues in Prosperity and for incoming visitors;
- Provide support to Prosperity Fund programmes according to demand, such as taking notes on meetings, providing updated info on the programmes to stakeholders, preparing documents and organising events.
There is scope in this position to get involved in a wide range of our Prosperity work, from supporting delivery of our programmes and projects to interesting policy questions around trade and economics and building a stronger relationship between the UK and Brazil.
Working towards a degree on International Relations, Business Administration, Economics or related field;
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and written skills in both English and Portuguese;
Excellent computer skills, including with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Experience of working with government or public institutions;
Understanding of the Brazilian domestic economy and politics;
Minimum 4th semester.
