The British Embassy in Rabat is seeking a hard working team player to take up the position of Estates Officer, grade A2 (L) to start as soon as possible.

Main purpose of the job:

The successful candidate will report to the Estates Manager and will be part of the Morocco Network Corporate Services team. The Estates team includes the Embassy in Rabat, the Residence, Casablanca Consulate General, and British Honorary Consulate in Marrakesh and is responsible for approximately 27 residential properties.

We are looking for a dynamic self-starter who is resourceful and works well under pressure. The Estates Officer is responsible for the day-to-day running of Estates services, purchasing goods and services, providing a high quality customer service and maintaining accurate records. With the leadership of the Estates Manager, the Estates Officer works in close collaboration with the Estates team to ensure the efficient and effective Management of Embassy Estates, procurement and suppliers.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Properties and Office Maintenance: First point of contact for all maintenance requests. Lead in the planning and the implementation of maintenance, ensuring excellent communication and coordination with all UK Based staff/ spouses and Estates Manager in order to complete the works to the highest standards. Organise property moves and ensure all checks are carried out for UK based arrivals and departures before handing or taking over a property. Point of contact for all official telephones and utilities.
  • Health and Safety: To manage Technical Works inspection visits schedules with the coordination of UK Based Staff members under the direction of the Estates Manager. To work closely with the Estates Manager and the regional Technical Works Officer to ensure implementation and completion of all Health and Safety recommended works to the highest standards.
  • Inventories: Record, update and maintain accurate inventory registers for properties and storerooms. Arrange for purchases and disposals.
  • Procurement: Carry out quarterly reviews and market testing of suppliers to ensure value for money and keep records for audit purposes. Be in charge of the procurement process for estates gods and services below £3000, including making purchases by credit card. Negotiate with suppliers to get value for money.
  • Line Management: Ensure effective line management of one handyman and two cleaners.

  • Fluency in English, French, and Arabic both oral and written.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience in Management.
  • A confident self-starter, with excellent organisation skills, who projects a professional image and builds networks to help get the job done.
  • Ability to work independently and to take the initiative as well as being able to work well with others.
  • A good working knowledge of excel and word.
  • Experience in Estates.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: gross salary of MAD 13,912 per month, inclusive of all allowances. The contract will be for a Full Time, Permanent.

The Embassy has a strong commitment to learning and development and all staff are required to agree a learning and development plan with their line manager.

Conditioned working hours for the position are 38 hours per week Monday to Friday.
