Housekeeper

A Housekeeper to keep the Official Residence of the British High Commissioner clean and tidy, with all fittings in good working order. To also cater for and serve at official events as required.

The role requires someone who is able to work with a high degree of professionalism and a minimum amount supervision. The person should have a positive attitude, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to getting things done. Excellent organisational / time management skills are important.

The successful candidate will have the ability to be flexible and respond with enthusiasm to changes of plan or last minute requests; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (in person and on the telephone).

A professional housekeeper who can:

             

            As this is an official government building, there will be events and guests on a regular basis. The successful candidate will need to assist in planning and cooking for small-scale functions at the Residence; including serving and cleaning up afterwards.  

            For larger scale events, the jobholder, under the leadership of the Office Manager, will work to plan events; liaise with external catering companies to ensure suitable staff are available. You will be required to work at some events and supervise these external event staff.  

             

            When the Residence has guests, there will also be a need to keep guest rooms tidy and make beds and support preparing for arriving and departing guests.

             

            There will also be some cooking required for the family.

            Overtime will be paid or flexible working hours allowed

            Experience of running a household

            Strong food hygiene and health and safety awareness (training will be given to enhance these skills)
