Main purpose of job:

The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) North American Marketing Services team is seeking an energetic and creative, flexible, resilient individual with a proven ability to cope under pressure for this demanding, but exciting role. The Senior Content Producer will join the North America Marketing Services team in New York.

The DIT North American Marketing Services team delivers original, thought-provoking and compelling output for DIT’s North American digital channels, as well as managing brand for the GREAT Britain campaign in the region. Our content is audience-focused and evidence-based to ensure it delivers against the department’s business objectives of driving Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the UK, encouraging exporting, raising the profile of UK goods and services overseas and promoting the UK’s first independent trade policy.

The Senior Content Producer /Social Media Manager will assist the Head of Marketing Services in the development of comprehensive content strategy for our social media channels – owned, earned and paid. The role will also drive our employee advocacy programme and train sales teams in the North American Market.

We are looking for a self-starter able to lead a team of producers to create high-quality, on-trend content for a variety of digital channels. The Social Manager/ Senior Content Producer will deliver social media content plans and oversee the busy content publishing schedule for the departments digital output. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, engaging and intelligent content is delivered across all digital channels and improving key metrics to reach targets on those channels. We have a very strong ethos of working together with opportunities for everyone to develop their best ideas.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • Strategic and day to day management of North American social channels
  • Collaborate with teams across the North American and international networks to create outstanding content.
  • Deliver content plans for our corporate and Senior Leadership (specifically HMTC) social media platforms – owned, earned, paid.
  • Oversee the department’s content publishing schedule.
  • Work with Campaign Manager to gather information to develop content from businesses and entrepreneurs.
  • Develop new formats for digital storytelling to land key communications and marketing messages.
  • Create high-quality content to ensure the success of the department’s GREAT campaigns.
  • Tactical delivery of content aligned to the media team’s news agenda.
  • Evaluate content performance using key metrics and benchmarks.
  • Day to day management of the Content officer to build a suite of original, high quality content is constantly available.
  • Train internal teams to integrate and maintain a cohesive social media strategy and share best practice
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on web traffic, ROI and communicate lessons learnt to senior stakeholders in N. America and the UK
  • Manage content process for North American landing page. Review new content to ensure it is engaging and relevant for North American audience.

Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

Content Manager – B3

  • At least 6 years of social media marketing experience as a content manager or Social media manager
  • Proven experience using social media to build brand awareness
  • BSc degree in Marketing or relevant field
  • Understanding of social and web traffic metrics
  • An ability to identify target audience preferences and build content to engage them
  • Excellent team-working and interpersonal skills, including experience of working with senior level officials and executives.
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects.
  • Video editing and story-boarding skills
  • Candidate must have strong, quick, thorough and effective communication skills, written and oral.
  • Keen attention to detail. 
  • Full knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
