The British Embassy in Bucharest is part of the United Kingdom’s world-wide diplomatic network, and represents British political, economic and consular interests in Romania and is now looking to recruit a Corporate Services Officer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all day-to-day aspects of Estates work at the Embassy Offices and Residential accommodation. This candidate will also make a contribution to the development estates policy as required.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Day to day liaison with property occupants and landlords on estate matters for the Embassy and 14 leased properties including the Ambassador’s Residence.
  • Identification of new accommodation and involvement in lease negotiation.
  • Maintenance of property databases and files (electronic and paper).
  • Financial: Management of maintenance and furniture budgets.
  • Policy: Main point of contact on non-technical day-to-day estate policy and ensuring compliance.
  • Human Resources: 3 staff members managed
  • Advice to Embassy Board on estate matters.
  • Direction of maintenance programmes.
  • Day to day co-ordination of works at Ambassador’s Residence in collaboration with Residence Manager. Logistical arrangements for UK National Day.
  • Two years’ experience of working in estates.
  • Experience of office working.
  • Experience of managing people.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure/remain calm under pressure.
  • Work experience using databases
  • Proactive person
  • Initiative to reach innovative solutions and respond to changing priorities

This is a full-time, fixed-term of 2 years contract with possible renewal by mutual consent. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked.

The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Romanian / UK public holidays per year.

Monthly salary is 4,356.25 RON gross. In addition, staff are entitled to a 13th month salary pro rata and may receive a performance related bonus at year end. Staff also receive meal vouchers and a monthly subscription to a medical centre. An individual personal development plan will be agreed with the successful candidate, which may include training outside Romania.

For your information whilst the Emergency Ordinance 79/2017 is in place the job holder will receive a gross monthly compensation bonus of RON 866.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance, and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of up to 45 calendar days.

The successful candidate is expected to commence employment as soon as possible after the selection process is completed. You must have pre-existing work authorisation for Romania in order to apply.

Additional requirements may become necessary pending EU Exit. If requirements change additional eligibility information will be shared during the recruitment process.
