Main purpose of job:

To lead the Corporate Services “Operations” section of the Embassy enabling the work of the whole Embassy to run smoothly.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

With the Head of Corporate Services and Deputy Head Corporate Admin, to lead the Corporate Services team at the Embassy to ensure:

  • Adherence to FCO Guidance and Best Practice at all times
  • achieve the standards in the Corporate Services Charter
  • a high performing, customer focused team that underpins the effective functioning of the Embassy
  • that all staff in the Embassy have confidence that they will receive the support they need from corporate services in order to do their jobs

 

To lead a team to deliver effectively and efficiently all estates, transport, protocol and IT functions for the Embassy including:

  • Implementing all recommendations from internal audit, hub or RMD and reports promptly.
  • supporting the team to learn and develop
  • ensuring high standards of customer service are maintained at all times
  • Be innovative and creative within existing guidelines to achieve value for money at all times

 
To oversee delivery of the 1HMG Memorandum of Understandings including:

  • ensuring the standards set out in the Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) are met
  • keeping Embassy processes up to date with the latest requirements from the Network Board
  • leading for the Embassy on negotiations with Partners Across Government who wish to change the number of their staff present at the Embassy

 

To find more efficient and value for money ways for the Embassy to use the resources available to it, including by:

  • introducing more effective systems
  • coaching and supporting individuals and teams to enhance their ways of working
  • keeping Embassy policies up to date with the latest best practice and central guidance
  • ensuring that all procurement by the estates, IT and transport team is necessary and is conducted in accordance with procurement policies

Line manager for A2-L transport manager, 3 x A2-L Protocol Officers, B3-L IT Manager, B3-L Estates Manager

  • Previous experience of managing budgets
  • A business management qualification
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Experience of customer service
  • Experience of improving systems and procedures
