The British Embassy in Uzbekistan is part of the world-wide UK diplomatic network working on behalf of British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Estates Manager/Health and Safety Officer.

The job holder will be responsible for management of Embassy estates, ensuring its technical equipment, refurbishment and overall maintenance are carried out in line with relevant regulations and requirements, including in Health and Safety area.

Roles and responsibilities:

Coordinate day-to-day work requests on Embassy facilities and residences, maintain effective communicate with requestors and other stakeholders;


Ensure timely implementation of action points of technical evaluation/inspection reports; advise on additional or emerging (forward look) technical works;


Liaise with appropriate parties (UK technical officers and inspectors, landlords and local authorities/various municipal organisations) on estate related issues;


Work out visit programmes for UK technical specialists and accompany them during their visits providing appropriate advice on the state of technical equipment and works;


Research, identify and advise on local companies for carrying out technical and/or construction works at the Embassy facilities; work out the design and manage the approved projects;


Maintain inventory of the office and residential technical equipment (including tools and spare parts); advise on acquiring new or replacing/discharging old items providing technical justification;


Maintain organisation’s estates system (entering necessary data on estates, registering work requests, update inventory of equipment and other inputs as necessary);


Monitor utility meters (their installations, inspections etc) and usage at hired properties. Prepare and present monthly utility bills to the Accountant for payment;


Maintain Embassy’s Health and Safety programme to ensure office and household items and equipment meet required standards (including mandatory training courses or assessments for staff);


Line manage Handyman, stepping in to help or replace them as necessary; manage the Gardener’s work;


                       


                                    Proficient language skills (English, Uzbek, Russian);

                                    Experience (at least two years) in office and/or estates administration area, preferably in international organisations;

                                    Technical knowledge and practical skills (basics of operation of boiler, air conditioning, central water and heating provision systems and their maintenance);

                                    IT literate in Microsoft Office;

                                    Ability to multitask, work accurately with attention to details, be resilient under pressure;

                                    Good interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders;

                                    Willing to take initiative, flexibility, responsible and reliable team player.


                                     

                                    Experienced in using ORACLE systems;

                                    Experience in health and safety issues;

                                    Staff managerial skills.
