The British Embassy in Azerbaijan is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Handyman/Courier to assist with maintenance, monthly checks and courier services in the Office and Residential accommodations.

The basic contract is full time, 40 hours per week with a standard pattern of working between 0900-17:00 (including 1 hour lunch break) from Mondays to Fridays. The contract is fixed term for one year, 01 Apr 2020-31 Mar 2021.

Main Purpose of this Job is to:

  • Conducting repair & minor maintenance in the office and residential accommodation;
  • Supervising the contractors/suppliers during surveys and handling of work requests in the office and residential accommodation;
  • Safety checks (electrical, microwave, plumbing, A/C, roof, PAT, toilet/kitchen taps) in the office and residential accommodation (if required);
  • Delivering of mail/goods to the recipients/residents;
  • Inventory of domestic float items (renewal/purchase);
  • Collecting/delivering of domestic float;
  • Buying goods & services up to £3K and accounting for purchases in the system;
  • Assisting with the Residence/other venue set up for the event;
  • Driver back-up;
  • Other office support as required.

  • Intermediate English language level for both written and spoken and fluent Azeri;
  • Previous relevant experience as a handyman;
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems;
  • Good communication and problem solving skills;
  • Good customer service skills;
  • Strong planning and organisational skills;
  • IT skills (basic Word and Excel);
  • Driving skills (will be tested).
  • Knowledge of the UK Health and Safety standards.

This is a fixed term full-time position for one year of five working days, 40 hours net per week.

The salary is USD 866.01 gross per month and shall be paid in AZN monthly.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Azerbaijan is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service of the FCO according to local labour legislation.
