Driver / Messenger

The UK Delegation to the OECD (UKDEL OECD) and British Embassy in Paris are looking for two drivers to support the delivery of UK priorities by providing excellent, safe, timely and proactive driving support. Additionally the roles will include general office and other driving support for the two separate teams.

Roles and responsibilities:

 

  • Working in a busy environment, ensure key Embassy staff (including UKDEL OECD Ambassador and Deputy Head) are driven to/from events, meetings and engagements in a safe and timely fashion. 
  • Work closely with the Executive Assistants/teams to plan transport requirements.
  • Lead on planning and delivery of ministerial transport for key France Network and UKDEL OECD events and wider embassy events .
  • Lead on delivery of transport logistics for UK ministerial and senior officials. 
  • Ensure embassy vehicles are always prepared, ready for use and have a high level of cleanliness and safety at all times.
  • Build network of key stakeholders at the OECD and elsewhere in order to help the team effectively deliver high profile visits/events.
  • Support teams across UKDEL and OECD and the France Network on occasions when they need transport support for particularly complex, large, or high-profile events.

Both roles would also include elements of office and administration support to France Network teams. The exact tasks will depend on team priorities but are likely to include elements of:

  • office management
  • resolving ad-hoc issues/problems that arise in the office
  • support teams with administrative, technical, IT and security issues as required

  • The successful candidates will be joining welcoming and supportive teams, working in the interesting worlds of the bilateral relations at the British Embassy to France, UKDEL OECD and contributing to the UK’s role as a Member Country within it.
  • At least five years experience working as a professional driver;
  • strong interpersonal skills;
  • excellent communication skills;
  • ability to interact with senior colleagues.
  • Absolute discretion and the ability to keep information seen or heard in confidence. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint etc,
  • experience of working for government/a diplomatic mission/international organisation and knowledge of protocol and handling of ministers etc.
  • Good knowledge of Paris and its road system

This is a full-time permanent contract.

All appointments are subject to professional background check satisfactory security clearance. Working patterns: The position is based on a 35 hour working week. However due to the nature of the work there is the requirement to work some irregular hours, particularly starting early and finishing late, during the working week. There may also be requirements to work on weekends. The successful candidate will be entitled to overtime payments for working additional hours.
