View Vacancy - Construction Security Technician
The British Embassy is seeking 10 temporary Construction Security Technicians. Previous experience in a security guarding/patrolling related discipline is preferred but not required. Candidates must be willing to successfully complete job related training and apply the new skills in day to day situations on a US construction site.
The purpose of this role is carry out routine security auditing and inspection with the objective of providing assurance to the FCO that the security integrity of a construction site is maintained.
There is a requirement to pass the relevant health and safety examinations needed by law to gain access to the site.
Candidates must be prepared to carry out initial training off site. This is to prepare the job holder for their duties prior to commencement of work. Additionally there will be further on the job training and induction.
The candidate should be able to provide evidence that they have the following skills:
- Maintain a diary and document any security related issues in a situation report format.
- Demonstrate good communications skill and the ability to form a good working relationship with construction staff and management
- After instruction, to be able to set up temporary CCTV and Intruder Detection systems as well as operate other bespoke equipment types.
Candidates will need to be able to:
- Complete regular security patrols of a large site
- Lift up to 35lbs as required to assist on site
- Respond swiftly to potential on-site emergencies
- Stand for long periods of time in all weather conditions whilst guarding entrances
- Be able to wear necessary security uniform, including anti-stab vest when needed
The job holder will have no line management responsibilities and will report to the Project Site Security Manager.
A UK Government SC clearance is required to carry out this work.
Applicants must have the ability to obtain and retain the SC clearance.

SC Clearance
Shifts will be dictated by work taking place on site
Guards will work the main gates from 5am – 5pm MON – FRI & 7am – 5pm SAT
Site works by General Contractor will run 6am – 4pm MON – FRI & 8am – 4pm SAT and this will require CST supervision during certain periods.
During those periods, where supervision is required we will structure a roster to allow works to take place and it may be early start / early finish with overlaps where required to ensure we don’t risk lack of cover or overrun the constraint on individual hours.
