View Vacancy - Economic Diplomacy Officer - 02/18 WHK
Main purpose of job:
To support delivery of the UK’s Economic Diplomacy objectives. This includes helping to promoting sustainable economic growth in Namibia, identifying and working with partners to remove trade barriers and creating opportunities for British business.
Roles and responsibilities:
Lead on analysis of local developments (e.g. legislation, trends) affecting the business environment in Namibia, and produce reports on these topics
Lobby relevant government departments/business to promote sustainable economic growth and responsible business, including in relation to international agreements
Represent the UK at relevant thematic meetings, gather information and communicate elements that are of importance for UK policy in Namibia
Work closely with UK Department for International Trade (DIT) and the regional prosperity team to identify opportunities to overcome challenges to British business
Identify, bid for funding and administer suitable projects aimed at supporting Namibia’s economic growth
- Educated to degree level
- Analytical and report-writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of work in the commercial sector and/or knowledge of the institutions of government in Namibia
- Project management skills
