View Vacancy - MNL - Political Support Officer, A2 (L)
Main purpose of job:
The Support Officer will serve as a key member of the British Embassy’s Policy, Projects and Communications team. S/he will provide support to the Second Secretary and other colleagues in pursuit of the Embassy’s political, rule of law, and human rights objectives. This will include support to the delivery of Embassy programme and capacity building work, and facilitation of activities and engagements with a wide range of partners.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
The jobholder will have a frontline role in supporting the Embassy’s political and human rights objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong management skills, a proven delivery record, interest in political and human rights work, and the skills to deliver in a fast-paced and complex environment.
The jobholder will be responsible for:
- Administrative and logistical support to the delivery of activities and engagements
- Financial management of team and programme spend, including monitoring and reporting
- Support to the delivery of programme and capacity building work
- Building and maintaining a deep and broad network of relevant contacts
- Deputising as required by the Second Secretary in attending meetings and representing the Embassy
The jobholder will have strong communication skills. S/he will have an eye both for detail, and will feel comfortable delivering effectively and efficiently at pace across a broad portfolio. S/he will feel comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams, and – with creativity and innovation – as a self-starter.
- Proven organisation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Professional/academic background in political and/or human rights work
- Experience of project and/or budget management

The British Embassy offers a competitive compensation package, 36-hour work week, guaranteed 13th and 14th month pay, 20 days paid annual leave (calculated on a pro-rata basis if the service period is less than one full year), extensive medical insurance, life insurance and access to a guaranteed 5 days of learning opportunities a year.
