The British Embassy in Cairo is seeking to appoint a responsible Intern to work in the Communications Section to start as soon as possible.

This is a great opportunity to develop communications skills in a busy and successful Embassy, which regular hosts high profile events, and is known across the region for its engaging social media content.

It is also a good opportunity to gain experience of working in an international environment with a strong focus on professionalism and accuracy. The team from the Ambassador down is committed to learning and development and regular learning events on topics from core diplomatic skills, writing with impact, presentation and management are regularly organised.

You will have an opportunity to participate in all of these and to access the extensive online UK Government learning offer.

Main purpose of the job:

The intern will be working with in the Communications team to create engaging social media material.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging content in Arabic and English for our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram)
  • Assist with monitoring trends, top stories, and reactions on our social media platforms
  • Video filming and editing for social media
  • Creating graphics for campaigns
  • Broader assistance to the Communications Team including event management and translation

  • Knowledge of social media platforms and associated software
  • Proven interest/ background in a field relevant to media or international relations

Working hours and remuneration:

The salary is USD 15 per day and the gross conditioned hours is 36.5 per week. Normal working hours is from 08:00 to 15:30 Sunday – Thursday. The job requires flexibility in working hours as the communications team is required to attend evening events.

This is an internship role for eight (8) months.

Eligibility:
