The UK continues to be committed to working with our French partners to tackle the Clandestine threat – including small boats. A new Franco-British multi-agency unit has been created to further our efforts to prevent this irregular migration, and tackle the Organised Immigration Crime Groups behind this.

This (ILA) position, based in Coquelles, (near Calais) is to support the UK officers within this team. Responsibilities will include translation and a range of administrative duties to deliver organisational objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities (% of time)

  • Provision of written and spoken translation services for the UK officers and managers; clearly communicating with French law enforcement and other partners on behalf of UK law enforcement
  • Draft responses and reports for dissemination to UK and overseas partners
  • (50% of time)

  • General office administration and support to the UK officers and managers
  • Monitoring incoming enquiries and maintaining logs and databases
  • Conduct ad-hoc open-source research and analysis, present findings in a logical and concise manner
  • (40% of time)

  • Attend a range of events, meetings and conferences in support of the team to strengthen the UK-France bilateral relationship
  • Liaise with other UK law enforcement partners in the UK and at the British Embassy Paris in pursuit of HMGs ‘one platform’ approach through joint workin
  • Organise logistics and compile programmes for incoming/outgoing visits and events
  • (10% of time)

  • Attend a range of events, meetings and conferences in support of the team to strengthen the UK-France bilateral relationship
  • Liaise with other UK law enforcement partners in the UK and at the British Embassy Paris in pursuit of HMGs ‘one platform’ approach through joint working

  • Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken (C2 European Framework)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills – ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to build, maintain and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel;
  • High level of discretion and integrity

 


  • Knowledge of UK/French Law Enforcement

  • Previous experience of working in an international environment.

This is a full-time permanent contract. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 18:00 (35 weekly hours - there may be an occasional requirement for out of hours working to respond to operational emergencies). The position is located in Coquelles (Northern France, close to Calais).

All appointments are subject to professional background check satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record (casier judiciaire) for recent countries of residence (which can be obtained online at casier-judiciaire.justice.gouv.fr), two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements) and two references.
