Main purpose of job:

This is an exciting time to join the Department of Business and Trade (DBT) team in the British Embassy Seoul.  The UK-South Korea relationship has never been stronger, we are currently negotiating an ambitious Free Trade Agreement, and capitalising on momentum from the Korean President’s State Visit to the UK.  This is a great opportunity to be part of a friendly, dynamic and ambitious team and to grow and develop in a supportive and dynamic environment.

The purpose of this role is to provide administrative and logistical support to the Department of Business & Trade team in the UK Embassy, Seoul. This includes supporting high-profile trade missions, events and senior visits.  The jobholder will also be responsible for managing databases and budget information, finance & procurement, and providing Executive Assistant duties to the Country Director for Business and Trade.

It is an ideal role for an enthusiastic, dynamic new professional, keen to learn and build a career in international trade promotion.  There are significant opportunties for learning and development through training and exposure to a wide range of activities.
 

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

Trade Promotion and Market Shaping Support (40%): 

  • Assist in opportunities and partners to support UK exporter growth in priority sectors.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for trade campaigns, events, and missions.
  • Maintain contact databases and support communication management.

Events and visits support (40%): 

  • Work with project leads to plan receptions, meetings, and events for visit programmes.
  • Provide administrative support, manage guest lists and coordinate logistics during events, delegations and visits.
  • Handle procurement tasks including supplier setup, payment processing and purchase orders.

Executive Assistant support to the Country Director for Business & Trade (10%):

  • Travel and calendar management and organisation.
  • Assist with monthly budget amendments, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Shadow the Country Director for learning and development opportunities.


Corporate objectives (10%):

  •  Participate in wider Business & Trade team or Embassy activities, such as joining volunteer committees.
  • Exemplary organisational skills and the ability to multi-task

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:15. However, occasional evening and weekend working may be required, for which time off in lieu is given. The British Embassy encourages flexible working and various flexible working arrangements are possible with line manager agreement, including working from home one day a week.
