The UK Permanent Representation to the EU (UKRep) works within the EU and its member states to maximise British influence on issues such as trade, the single market and economic growth and is now looking for a highly motivated Corporate Officer.

The job holder will play an important role in supporting the corporate management of UKRep, with tasks ranging from budget management to arranging and preparing meetings of the senior management team. The ideal candidate will have proven organisational skills, an ability to work quickly on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. The role may evolve significantly over the coming period as the UK proceeds through the Article 50 process and the job holder must consequently be prepared to be flexible and adjust their responsibilities as required.

Main responsibilities will include:

  •  Playing a leading role in the co-ordination and running of senior management meetings at UKRep and delivering improvements to UKRep’s internal comms;
  • Liaising with the Ambassadors’ Private Offices and collaborating closely with the Deputy Head of Mission on some business-critical corporate projects; maintaining a contacts database and carrying out ad-hoc research tasks;
  • Budget planning and monitoring for UKRep sections, liaising with Corporate Services and keeping senior management duly informed providing support and cover to the team when needed.
  • Fluent English (both oral and written);
  • Proven skills in delivering results under pressure, excellent organisational ability and a proactive results-driven approach to problem solving;
  • Highly numerate;
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of initiative and attention to detail;
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to communicate in French both written and orally would be an advantage but is not essential;
  • Experience with budget management;
  • Knowledge of the EU institutions;
  • Familiarity with the UK Government.

This is a full-time position for 5 working days (36.25 hours net) per week. The position will be filled on a “replacement contract” to cover a leave of absence.

The monthly gross salary for this position is € 3,024.50 A2 (L) level (The British Diplomatic Missions in Belgium salaries are not subject to annual indexation).

Please note that Belgian nationals will be paid their salary gross and are expected to comply with their tax obligations through completion of a tax return to the Belgian authorities. Non-Belgian nationals will receive their salary net, minus the deduction of an equivalent level of Belgian tax retained at source. Further information on this will be given to candidates during the recruitment process.

The successful candidates will be subject to professional background checks and security clearance.
